Counting from 1 – 10 in Māori
Kia Orana! Today, we’re going to learn how to count from one to ten in Māori. Numbers are a fundamental part of any language and learning them is a great first step in your language journey. Just to clarify, this is the Māori that’s spoken in the Cook Islands and sometimes referred to as “Rarotongan”. 2. Rua (pronounced roo-ah) – Two
3. Toru (pronounced toh-roo) – Three
4. A (pronounced ah) – Four
5. Rima (pronounced ree-mah) – Five
6. Ono (pronounced oh-no) – Six
7. Itu (pronounced e-two) – Seven
8. Varu (pronounced vah-roo) – Eight
9. Iva (pronounced e-vah) – Nine
10. Tai ngauru (pronounced tah-ee, ngaw-uuh-roo) – Ten
